WALL CLIMBING IN NEPAL

Rock Climbing and Wall climbing are sports gaining more and more popularity in Nepal. There are many places in Kathmandu valley where you can go Wall Climbing and Rock Climbing. Wall Climbing is preferred for those who seek for moderate thril and adventure being more secure. Some popular locations in Kathmandu are mentioned below:

1. Astrek Wall Climbing

Located in the central part of Kathmandu, Thamel, Astrek Rock Climbing is one of the best and most popular for Wall Climbing. It is suitable for all people, either they are beginner or the professional. This is an artificial wall climbing which helps the freshers to learn the rock climbing. This is 50m high indoor wall climbing in Nepal. Many who are willing to climb the rocky hill but are not prepared then they should try this at first. This will help you to gain more confidence and climbing experience. It costs only NPR 450. If you do not have shoes and harness then you can also rent it here. It does not cost much, about NPR 200-300. This is the best way for fresher to increase their skill.

2. Pasang Lhamu Sports Climbing Centre

Pasang Lhamu Sports Climbing Centre is one of the oldest Wall Climbing centres in Kathmandu. Located in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu it is also one of the popular locations for Wall Climbing. Located near the ring road, it is easily accessible and is more economic with only NPR 500 equipments-rent included. 

ROCK CLIMBING IN NEPAL

Rock Climbing is one of the most daring activities and is preferred to physically fit people. Climbing a rocky hill is difficult and dangerous. It is a challenging task and not preferred to freshers. It is better to try Rock CLimbing after gaining some confidence and experience from Wall CLimbing although they are bit different.

1. Hattiban (Pharping) Rock Climbing

Hattiban Pharping Rock Climbing is one of the most famous natural rock climbing site. This climbing site is located on the way to the holy temple Dakshinkali. It is 26km far from Thamel area. It takes about an hour on vehicle and 20 minute hikie to reach from Thamel. As the climbing sit is faced toward the south, it makes the temperature hot, hence it is better if you choose winter season to climb. The area is not only for popular climbing and hiking, this place is also famous for monastery and Buddhism.

2. Nagarjuna Rock Climbing

Nagarjuna Rock Climbing located North-east of Kathmandu valley and is famous for climbing as well as for mountain biking and trekking. It is the closet climbing place in Kathmandu which is just 30 minutes drive and 30 min walk from the entrance gate to reach the climbing location. The climbing site has wide range of routes and best place for all sets (beginners, intermediate and professional) of climbers.

3. Kakani Rock Climbing

Kakani Rock Climbing is one of the daring wall climbing. Beginners or even Intermediate climbers are not suggested to try this as it is much difficult. Kakani Rock Climbing is located 29km northeast of Kathmandu on the way to Trishuli. This has one small climbing rock with 6 routes. The rock is only about 20m but it is quite challenging than others. From the top of hill we can also have scenic view of Ganesh himal, Annapurna, Himalchuli, Dhaulagiri and Gauri shanker.
