HIGHLANDER NEPAL has been selected for the MAST-Nepal Programme
The MAST-NEPAL Project The kingdom
of Nepal has long excited Western imagination. But tourism
in Nepal is also causing signi?cant environmental, cultural,
social and economic pressures. What can be done to preserve
the cultural and natural beauty of this country? Develop quality
tourism-related products with small local suppliers to make
more sustainable use of resources.
Mission Statement:
This project aims to increase commercial opportunities
for Nepalese and European tourism inter-mediaries by promoting
Nepal as a premier sustainable tourism destination with a
strong brand image.
The Partners:
-The United Nations Environment Programme – a leader in promoting
sustainable tourism,
- The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) – responsible for marketing
Nepalese tourism,
- SNV (Netherlands Development Organization) – expert in tourism
development in Nepal, and
- Leeds Metropolitan University - bringing training and technical
assistance
