Trekking in Restricted Areas

Since 1991 it is possible to get permission to enter former restricted areas. The restrictions are to protect the environment and culture of these remote regions. Each group will be assigned a special "Environmental Officer" who will accompany during the trekking period.

 
 

TREKKING ROUTES OF RESTRICTED AREA

 

Mustang (Lo-Manthang) (13 days)

"Mustang" is a Tibetan lost valley and stands as a hidden treasure of Nepal. Trekkers can enjoy visiting the Tibetans there and the most mystic landscape. It seems that "Mustang" is totally independent as the regional king "Mustangee Raja" is still ruling the area

 

Starting from: Kathmandu    Grade: Moderate    Type of Trek: Camping     Culture: Thakali

 

Upper Dolpo (28 days)

This trekking area lies in far western part of Nepal. The upper Dolpo are is restricted area as well where you need to have any special permits to go. Not so many tourists have been in this area. This area is physically hard because of the high passes. You could see nice landscape and villages. You could see perfect Mountain View from here. This area also offer the deepest lake of Nepal “ Phokshendu” and biggest waterfall of Nepal “Suligard water fall”.

Starting from: Jumla    Grade: Moderate-Difficult    Type of Trek: Teahouse/Camping     Culture: Gurung, Tamang

 

Manaslu Round (24 days)

The trekking route around Manaslu Himal is such a fascinating trip with great Himalayan view and a bit challenge at the same time. This route is not crowded with individual trekkers at all. Exploring the highland villages of Nepal thrills a trekker to cross over a pass (Larkya La) which is the tough part of this trek

 

Starting from: Gorkha    Grade: Moderate-Dificult     Type of trek: Camping     Culture: Newar, Chettries, tamang, gurung, Tibetan

 

Upper Rolwaling (17 days)

This trek lies in the eastern part of Nepal with a height of 3500m. This is a moderate type of trek with glorious view over mountain.
