As we grow, the communities around us share in that growth. A certain profit from our business is contributed to various projects all over the country, which includes:
- Building and operating School in one of the marginalized communities- Chepang Gaun through Roshan’s Friend Project.
- Helping schools at Khanigaun (Bhairab Kunda Trek area, Sindhupalchowk)
For last 7 years, we have been supporting a local school in Khanigaun wherein, among others, we have been paying the salary of the school teacher for last seven years. And, from this year onwards, we would be providing support to improve the school’s infrastructures. You can visit the school while you are on the trek to the Bhairab Kunda.
If anyone is interested to visit and/or support the school, Highlander will be happy to co-ordinate.
Volunteerism: Highlander coordinates with different children’s home around Kathmandu valley for the right volunteer placements.
Volunteerism is one of the best ways to experience a country. Through this, one can get a first hand experiences of the culture, language and daily life-style of the locals as well as contribute to the betterment of their lives. Similarly, volunteer works not only lead to great experiences, but also ensures that you go back home having made an impact.
Most placements take place in and around the capital Kathmandu, with some specific placements taking place in trekking areas and in other towns and villages of Nepal.
The period of volunteering depends entirely on the type of work, demand and requirement of the organization as well as the volunteer.
General time period include a minimum of one week to three months. But this could vary as per the need and requirements. This is an entirely self- financed volunteering opportunity.
Highlander's contribution to Orchid Garden Nepal:
Orchid Garden Nepal is a day care and fully functioning school up to grade 2 in the Kalopul area of Kathmandu valley. It is a non-profit and non-governmental organization with the basic aim of providing and protecting the rights, welfare and health of discriminated and deprived children of Nepal.
Highlander takes pride in helping the day care school, having donated a solar panel so that the children have the privilege of acknowledging a facility of 24 hours running hot water. The solar panel as we have been informed, has been taken full advantage of, especially in the biting cold winter in Kathmandu.
