Trekking in North Kathmandu

Just north of the capital is a good trekking area, which offers deep and narrow valleys as well as high mountains. This is the homeland of Sherpa, Brahman and Chetri. You will come upon many cultural spots and pilgrimage sites.

Just a couple of days walking finds you amongst beautiful snow peaks of the Ganesh and Langtang ranges. Following the Langtang Khola (river) will take you to the settlement of Kyanjin Gumba at 3900m. Langtang - Gosainkund - Helambu (16 days)

Drive from Kathmandu to Dhuche (9hrs) and overnight in teahouse, Dhuche trek to Syabru (5 hrs) and overnight in teahouse, Syabru trek to Lama hotel (6 hrs) and overnight in teahouse, Lama hotel trek to Langtang (6 hrs) and overnight in teahouse, Langtang trek to Kyangin Gomba.(4 hrs) and stay overnight, Kyangin – Rest day, overnight in teahouse

Langtang - Helambu - Ganja La Pass (14 days)

Ganja la pass is one of the difficult Himalayan pass with a high of 5132 m. In this trek trekkers can enjoy Buddhist culture and tradition. Beautiful Himalayan sight seeing as well as beautiful Buddhist monastery can be seen on the way.

 

Helambu Trek  (9 days)

Helambu lies to the north of Kathmandu where dominantly Sherpa and Tamang races have their homes. The trekkers come in contact with temperate forests, snowy peaks which give the feeling of heaven.

 

Tamang Heritage Trail combining with the Langtang  (13 days)

This is a superb introduction to trekking in Nepal among some of the most beautiful scenery in the whole country, with rich tamang culture.
