In Tibet sleeping and eating will be in tents
unless specified otherwise in the itinerary.
Where guest houses are mentioned in the program
we endeavour to stay in the best possible
accommodation, though you should be aware that
most of the guest houses in Tibet are quite
basic. The bedrooms are usually very small and
shared bathroom facilities are often outside. At
times it may be necessary to stay in a dormitory
with several other travelers if individual rooms
are not available. However, final accommodation
is set according to your interest.
FOOD
Your kitchen crew will provide tasty, plentiful
and nutritious meals daily with a variety of
local and Indian dishes. Food will be prepared
either by an Indian specialist cook or a Nepali
cook specially trained on Indian food
preparation.
We use as much fresh produce as possible and our
cooks and kitchen crew maintain exceptional
standards of cleanliness and food preparation
hygiene. Special dietary requirements can always
be catered to.
TRANSPORTATION
The road in Tibet can be quite rough at times
and unpassable for many vehicles. For this
reason we use 4-wheel-drive Toyota Land Cruiser.
For deluxe trips we use Toyota 4500 and for
standard trips Toyota 62 is used. These vehicles
are extremely reliable and will make the journey
as comfortable as possible. For the section
between Kathmandu and Tibet border
transportation comfortable private mini tourist
coach is provided. In Tibet there will be a
truck for carrying luggage, camping equipments.
While on trek we will provide yak to carry your
personal gear. Extra yaks, yakmen and horses can
be provided for an additional cost.
PHYSICAL FITNESS
Every Participant undertaking this trip must be
physically fit. The trek around Kailash requires
some strenuous hiking and altitude can take a
physical toll on the body. We recommend to
carryout physical exercise prior to the trip. If
you have any chronic health problems please
consult your doctor.
ROUTE & CLIMATE CONDITIONS
The route from Kathmandu to Tatopani
(Nepal-China border) is narrow and scary but
most of it is black topped. The high altitude
Tibetan terrain is dry, cold, windy and dusty.
Nights are colder. Torrential rains and strong
icy wind is common feature, flooding rivers and
landslides are frequent. The average altitude is
above 3,500 m and the route covers many high
altitude passes.

Kailash Manasarovar Helicopter Tour
This tour is ideal for those devout pilgrims who
are short in time OR cannot undertake the grueling journey over the Tibetan
plateau due to age or other health factors. They will fly on fixed wing
aircrafts operated by a private airline Kathmandu / Nepalgunj / Simikot and
Nepalgunj / Kathmandu sector. The chopper meets the group at Simikot and
transfers them to Hilsa. The land cruisers drive over a week from Lhasa to meet
the group at Sher and later drop them back to Sher. As you can see the logistics
have to be carefully planned the tours have to be booked at least 3 weeks in
advance.
In addition we can combine Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar tour with Central
Tibet Lhasa, Guge Kingdom and Tsaprang or Tibet Everest Base Camp tour in Tibet
and Muktinath Tour, Manakamana Darshan, Kathmandu-Pokhara Sight Seeing,
Kathmandu-Pokhara-Chitwan Tour and Mountain Flight in Nepal.
Muktinath Tour
Kailash Manasarovar Yatra could be combined with Muktinath Tour. An
Ancient holy site Muktinath (3,802 m) has been sacred for over 2,000 years. The
Mahabharata mentions it as Shaligrama. There is a gilt-roofed pagoda to Vishnu,
Jwala Mai temple enshrining miraculous flames of natural methane gas and a
sacred spring for devout pilgrimage to bathe to earn Mukti - spiritual
liberation. While it could be 5 hours round trip by helicopter from Kathmandu,
it could also be attended by fixed-winged flight to Jomsom and pony ride of 22
kms / 4 days based from Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Lhasa Tour
For those who are having more time can begin in Kathmandu with
sightseeing then fly to Lhasa or you can drive to the monasteries and fully
immerse ourselves in the Buddhist culture.
Simikot Trek to Mt.Kailash
Trekking from Simikot is great acclimatization, fantastic views, mosaic
culture, sound atmosphere and awesome living style.
Everest Base Camp
Without doubt, a highlight of this trip is the visit to Everest Base
Camp, where the sheer grandeur of Everest's north face has to be seen to be
believed. Inspiring landscapes and mountain views combined with its rich
Buddhist history and culture, make visiting Tibet a truly unforgettable
experience.
