Ultimate Nepal Tours - 15 Days

Price : 795 € 6-8 pax

The Chepang Hills are away from the beaten track, yet very close to Kathmandu. This area is an ideal location for trekking with the feeling of being a pioneer. This fabled region conjures up images of mystical mountain people, enterprising explorers, ambitious mountain ascents, dramatic scenery and Hindu-Buddhist spiritualists. Very few foreigners have walked these paths and as a result experiences with locals are very special. There are a number of different ethnic groups in the areas we visit including the Magars, Gurungs, Newars and the very unique Chepang, who have until recently lived a semi nomadic lifestyle as hunter gatherers.

Hang on for the ultimate custom-designed Himalayan dream adventure combining hiking, rafting and a safari atop elephants to see rhinos and other creatures in their natural environments. After Chitwan we head to Pokhara: explore Pokhara town, try paragliding, ultra light air, boating, golfing or curl up in a comfychair in Colonel Jimmy's Library and read about some of the area's famous mountain expeditions.. Nepal experiences just don’t get any better than this!

This is a moderate easy trek that can be done any time of the year except during monsoon [June to August].

Important Notes : * Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary, but as this is Adventure Travel in a remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it. Weather conditions, road conditions, vehicle breakdowns and the health of fellow travellers can all contribute to changes. We will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but an easy going nature will be an asset!

- sustainable aspects of the product

- On this trip, we use a Nepalese trek guide familiar with and knowledgeable about local culture. Our staff are ethnic (porters and camp staff etc), and we encourage to stay in small, privately owned tea houses/lodges and purchase food locally.

-All garbage is removed or buried/burned as appropriate & kerosene is used for cooking when camping. Guests and staff are strongly encouraged to refill water bottles from boiled water.

Project Support: Roshan’s Friends (R.F) is a private non profit organization started by Lars Jensen in collaboration with Highlander trekking in 1996.

Since 1998 we have been supporting two villages in the remote Chepang Gaun area. We provide medicine and school material on a regular basis. In the uppermost village the people are very poor and they are former honey hunters. Since they had to go several hours to get water, we laid a pipeline for water and provided them with water. We provide the water for the village on an annual basis for 50,000 Nrs.

When we first came to the area there was no school, no teacher, and only one man could read and write. They had to go for 4 hours to reach school and 4 hours to get back to home again, so that was out of the question.

Now we have built 3 schools and the community has taken initiative to build the extra rooms. We cover the costs of materials including furniture.

We have also provided salaries to one teacher on regular basis.
